Torsi is a collection of outdoor and indoor handcrafted ceramic planters conceived around the notions of variation, flexibility and composition. The torso, such an essential part of the human body harbours its stability and movement and has served as a symbol for strength, beauty, and elegance in the arts throughout the periods. In classical architecture, the column torso supports the crown over a base.
As part of a choreographic balance act, Torsi elements can stand upright, stacked in spine-like columns, inspired by Bitossi’s historic Totem ceramic pieces, vertically elongated, rotated, and articulated in multiple sizes and proportions to form planted sculptural combinations. Each piece is a stand-alone object with a unique color selected from Bitossi’s vibrant archive. Fluted cylindrical or half-cylindrical elements can be positioned freestanding or against a surface, side by side, aligned, or freely in colorful creative compositions.
