Relativity of Color

Hand-blown Glass, Resin

2017

Relativity of Color is a series of hand-blown glass and cast acrylic objects exploring abstract notions of color, light, materiality, and attachment. Two intersecting elements coexist in a delicate balance, blending into one another and gently touching, while remaining interdependent.

The multicolored combination of translucent and transparent elements forms a palette of five distinct objects whose use suggests a ceremonial process through the handling of their delicate forms: a bowl, a plate, a vase, a low glass, and a taller wider glass. The balancing of volumes creates luminous visual effects and subtle optical illusions through filtered color.

Depending on the viewing point, the relationship between colors unfolds through overlapping layers. Each element is unique within the handmade process, allowing for an open-ended system of combinations of volume and color, leaving space for personal interpretation and experience.
