Archipelago

Building upon the legacy of the Cycladic culture and the highly stylized marble or clay idols abstracting everyday or anatomical forms presented here is a series of sculptures that simultaneously furthers the Studio’s ongoing study into softness—both in form and as a material quality.

Cast as translucent inflatables, what was heavy, solid, hard is now light, airy, and soft. These shifts offer a reinterpretation of ancient forms and allow for viewers to develop new relationships to the work. The transparent archipelago of curvy forms is complemented with light sculptures, traced trajectories of glimpse passing light.
